M1 Volleyball Club is excited to announce our new referral program for aspiring athletes looking to join our community. We believe in the power of connections and the value of shared experiences. That's why we're offering a :
$10 credit to current members who refer new athletes to our tryouts.
But the rewards don't stop there – if your referral accepts an offer to join one of our teams, you'll receive a generous $100 credit.
It's a win-win opportunity to share your love for volleyball, welcome new talent, and earn credits towards your own M1 journey.
USA Volleyball requires that each athlete register within their region - our region's governing body is the Southern Region Volleyball Association, or SRVA. Prior to tryouts, you must register on the SRVA website and pay a tryout registration fee that will be credited toward the the full-year USAV membership once your athlete is placed on a team. Should you have any questions in regards to this requirement please contact us.

Special Notes
1. (18U) Players who were born on or after July 1, 2004 and a high school student in the twelfth (12th) grade or below during some part of the current academic year are eligible to compete in 18 & under.
2 . Female Only - Players who were born on or after July 1, 2005, (who are defined as 18 & under by the USAV Age Definition) and are in the 11th grade for the current academic year are waivered to compete in 17 & under. (This age waiver is based on recruiting concerns for 11th grade girls previously required to participate in girls 18’s qualifiers and the 18’s GJNC.)
- USAV age is, by definition, the age of the athlete ON JULY 1ST OF 2024.
- *Grade is not the primary determinant of USAV age eligibility. We include grade in this list as a point of reference.
- Athletes are not allowed to 'play down' [i.e. play an age level lower than indicated above, regardless of grade]
- Generally speaking, M1 looks to keep athletes in the "peer group" (i.e. grade level) when possible but there are exceptions. As an example, we do not consider a USAV age level 13 who is in 8th grade to be "playing up" if they play 14s
Tryouts is the process through which players are chosen for the various M1 teams. We have 4-5 evaluators for each age group, depending on the number of players trying out for that age division. This process consists of written evaluations and observation of the player’s skill practice contexts as well as in game like situations. The evaluators are also looking at a player’s prior level of play, competitiveness, coachability and motivation. It is up to the team coaches and evaluators to determine how much weight is given to each aspect of the tryout process to form the best teams possible; and the weighting may vary from year to year for the same age group.
Tryout participants will be given t-shirts with a tryout number. This is to help identify the players when evaluating their skill and performance. This shirt and number is to be worn at each tryout. We also ask you bring a small headshot of your athlete to help aid in our evaluation process in between tryout session.
All evaluations are subjective – coaches from different clubs, and even within the same club, may disagree on the potential of any given athlete. At M1, coaches understand this and generally try to seek out the opinions of their colleagues within the club when making final roster choices.
Volleyball experience and skill levels are a great indicator of an athlete making a team, but there are other factors that come into play, such as attitude, work ethic, and coachability. These are all part of the evaluation process during the tryout.
After the completion of the tryout session. The evaluating coaches and club director will get together and discuss how the teams will be formed. The selected players will receive a phone /personal offer with a team. The family must then accept or decline the offer.
Upon acceptance, a non-refundable deposit will be required. This down payment helps with enrollment of tournaments, court space, uniforms, and insurance.
Please note that all offers may not be given out at the same time. This is simply because some decisions can be made easier than others. We thank you in advance for educating yourself on the tryout process.
